Debut Novel Has Enough ‘Good Stuff’ to Fill Five Romances! 5-Stars!

No Way Could a Publisher Not Buy this Book!

Everything a Reader Could Want in a Medical Romance…and More!

Harlequin Medical Romance
On sale date: Aug 1, 2011

“When One Night Isn’t Enough” proves my theory that to be published today by a major publisher, a debut novel has to stand out with 5-Star quality. This book is far better than the average romance. If you like medical facts and situations, as I do, you’ll get dozens of them in “When One Night Isn’t Enough”!

In addition to a variety of ER emergencies, there are plenty of medical incidents outside the ER.

If you like passion, “When One Night Isn’t Enough,” serves it up with a blaze of excitement! This is not a romance for the bashful. As for romantic conflict, both hero and heroine have reasonable cause to spar with the each other.

If you enjoy likeable secondary characters, there’s a full cast. Actually, it seems like everything that would make a novel better has been added to this story!

High Energy Writing!

Almost every paragraph zings with high energy writing. Where events might otherwise be straight forwardly described, Wendy writes with refreshing zest!  Quotes from the book:

“His blue scrub-covered legs and red rubber clogs entered her peripheral vision. He pulled out the chair beside her and sat down, brushing his arm against hers. No doubt on purpose, the rat.

“You’ve been avoiding me,” Dr. Jared Padget said.

“You’re hardly worth the effort it would take to avoid you.” Although, in truth, she was.
“Come on, Ali Kitten.” He snatched her pen. “You know you’re going to miss me.”

“About as much as I’d miss a painful hemorrhoid,” she said, glaring at him from the corners of her eyes."

There is never a dull moment. There is a foundation for every conflict, a motive for every action, and there's always a surprise waiting on the next page!

Canadian Spoken Here
Most fun of all – the story takes place in America! With specialists, nurses, and every medical term in American English!

American Spoken Here
Wendy Marcus is a wonderful addition to the talented staff of Harlequin Medical Romance authors.

Wendy is great but will she be able to do it again? She used up five romances worth of good ideas, characters, and situations in "When One Night Isn't Enough". That seems to be what an author has to do to get published today. I can't wait to read the next Marcus book. I understand that it will be about Ali's good friend Victoria's romance.

If you like Medical Romances, don’t miss this one. But be aware, this one, is deliciously, hot, hot, hot!  Available Now on Three Continents!

  1. Hi Vince!
Thank you for this fabulous review! It came at the exact perfect time! I'm so glad you liked my book! I hope when you read book #2, Victoria's story, ONCE A GOOD GIRL, coming to the U.S. in January, and book #3, Roxie's story, A NURSE'S NOT-SO-SECRET SCANDAL, U.S. release pending but probably around May 2012, you'll see that I still have plenty of story ideas!

Thanks again! I really appreciate you taking the time to review my book!

  3. Hi Vince,

I've been reading M&B Medicals since more than twenty years and it's my favourite series. With Wendy S Marcus's When Night Isn't Enough, I feel we sort of entered a new era with Medical Romances. I was completely blown away, and that's saying a lot since I've read many different authors and different styles of Medicals. I even have some from when it was Doctor/Nurse series.

I so agree with what you say, everything a reader could want in a Medical Romance and much, much more!!!

The anticipation for Once a Good Girl is much higher now!

  4. I totally agree with this review! I loved it when I read it, and I still love it now when I pick it up to flip through it. Of course, I can't flip through it because I end up reading it again!

WHEN ONE NIGHT ISN'T ENOUGH is a great medical romance, and I would recommend it to anyone, honestly. It's a great read.

  5. Hi Wendy:

Thanks for stopping by. I love to hear from authors. I must say that when I didn’t see a doctor or nurse in white on the cover, I was a little worried that there would not be many medical incidents in the story. Then you have a bus accident with dozens of injuries of various types. I loved it. I’ve had four major operations and I think I’m a medical expert from a patient’s POV. And that's why I read Medicals.

BTW: Do you have to be Australian to get a RUBY? I’m predicting right now you’ll be nominated if you are allowed to enter.

    Keep up the good work.

  6. Hi Nas:

I’ve been reading the Medical Romances for about 11 years. I have to read one about every two weeks. I think they make the perfect short romance because of all the built-in opportunities to provide stress and conflict and evoke deep emotions. Given that romances have many restrictions and the medical stories also have many restrictions (really: reader expectations), it can be hard to be original.

That’s why I like “When One Night Isn’t Enough” – it’s like a breath of fresh air. It’s the kind of new voice that judges look for when they give ‘Best Debut Book’ awards. (How many times do feisty nurses talk back to doctors like Ali did? And in public! Too good.)

Thanks for your comment. I couldn’t agree more

  7. Hi Marlena:

Thanks for your comments. I feel the same way. I think we are part of a vanguard of fans who have discovered an exciting new voice for the Medical Romances.

Best of all: we know there are more books coming!

I plan to read “When One Night Isn’t Enough” again to pick up some energy for my own writing.

  8. Hi Vince!
I recently spoke with Amy Andrews, president of Australia RWA, and she told me she was pretty sure you did need to be Australian to win a R*by. If I'm not mistaken, Melanie Milburn won with one of her medical romances this year! Very exciting times for Harlequin Mills and Boon Medical Romance!

  9. Hi Wendy:

I would think that if you were a member of the RWA (Romance Writers of Australia) you would be eligible for the award. I’m sure it’s that way with the RWA. (Romance Writers of America). I think many none American’s have won RITAs.

BTW: I think the R*BY judges really like Medical Romances. I’ve reviewed several on this blog. For example:

Anyway, “When One Night Isn’t Enough” is award winning quality to me. : )
