‘Philosophy of Romance” Welcomes Elizabeth Scott Barron -- the Heroine of “When God Answers”

Elizabeth Scott Barron was born on a ship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean in 1850. The ship was at least one thousand miles away from the nearest country. Elizabeth says she’s a 'citizen of the sea'. Her parents were on their way to the California gold fields from their home in Australia. Her father was a successful gold miner, gambler, cattle rancher and minister. He has towns in three states named after him.

Elizabeth’s childhood was spent growing up in California, Alaska, Santa Fe, and west Texas. Her diaries are still highly prized by historians today. Elizabeth’s correspondence with famous people provides us with a rare view of a way of life that was quickly coming to an explosive end.
